I am an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Missouri State University. My current book project examines when political leaders use national humiliation narratives as a political strategy and the unintended effects of these narratives and the emotions they evoke on foreign policy preferences. I was a Rosenwald Postdoctoral Fellow in U.S. Foreign Policy and International Security at Dartmouth College from August 2021 to June 2022. I completed my doctoral studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Joint B.A./M.A. in global studies with political science as my second undergraduate major and a minor in Chinese.
